Voting records of all 100 Senators were recently analyzed by
“Congressional Quarterly,” which reported that Barack Obama votes with the Democrat Party line 96 per cent of
the time. Joe Biden comes in a close second, tied at 93 per cent with Harry Reid. Interestingly, Obama is a more consistent
liberal voter that even Senate Majority leader Reid.
John McCain votes with the Republicans 81 per cent of the time.
This can and will probably be used as evidence that McCain is willing to “work with the other party” and can “cross
party lines.” Frankly, I don’t want someone to cross party lines when it results in things like a trampling of
my First Amendment rights (McCain-Feingold campaign “reform”) or “comprehensive” immigration reform.
(We already have a “pathway to citizenship,” thank you – it’s
called entering the country legally, learning the language, studying the U.S. Constitution, obeying the laws, filing for citizenship,
and passing the required tests.)
If the conservatives say 2+2=4 and the liberals say 2+2=6, I don’t find
it too comforting to know that McCain might "compromise" and go along with 2+2=5. We all know that Obama will continue to
insist that 2+2=6, regardless of how much evidence conservatives provide showing that 2+2=4. Both 5 and 6 are incorrect but,
although one is more incorrect than the other, I’m not eager to accept 5.
Luckily, I suspect Palin will always fight for 2+2=4. Let's hope McCain retires after one term...
